ABS Group to develop intelligent maintenance strategy for FLNG fleet

Bermuda-based Golar LNG has selected ABS Group subsidiary Genesis Technology Solutions to develop an intelligent maintenance strategy for the company’s new fleet of floating LNG (FLNG) vessels.

The strategy will be provided using the GoFLNG floating liquefaction technology in a bid to address the safety of FLNG assets and activities.

ABS Group will implement the Maximo computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) to support Golar LNG’s asset management programme.

ABS Group CEO Todd Grove said: “This is an important project for ABS Group and GenesisSolutions to support our clients in the growing FLNG market.

“To maximise the value to our client, GenesisSolutions will collaborate closely with our offshore services team throughout development of this maintenance strategy, building on their technical knowledge and experience in providing related robust offshore asset management solutions.”

For the Hilli and for future vessels, the company will provide a model for asset data, criticality rankings, spare parts analysis, a risk-based inspection strategy, failure mode and effects analysis in addition to a maintenance programme.

Hilli is the first GoFLNG facility currently under construction at Keppel Shipyard in Singapore and will operate off the coast of Cameroon.

Golar LNG lead FLNG maintenance and integrity superintendent Kenneth Ruyts said: “We are implementing a new CMMS that will become the backbone of our asset management organisation, and we selected ABS Group to support the roll-out of this system because of their reliable expertise in various industries, especially working with FPSO vessels, and proven model for risk-based inspection, maintenance and asset management.”

The company’s GoFLNG business model will reduce the resource holder’s capex and project execution risk.
