Wood Group wins PetroRio contract to deliver services in Brazil

Wood Group has won a contract to deliver services to Brazil-based PetroRio’s Polvo A platform in the southern Campos basin, 100km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro.

Under the two-year contract, Wood Group PSN will provide integrated operations and maintenance services.

The Polvo field comprises a fixed production and drilling platform that are connected to a floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO).

Earlier, Wood Group Kenny provided integrity management support to the field.

Wood Group chief executive Robin Watson said: “We look forward to beginning this new partnership with PetroRio, where our focus will be on working collaboratively to deliver safe, efficient and effective services.

“Our experience operating in Brazil, alongside our strong history of supporting offshore assets across their life cycle in the North Sea, positions us well and we are committed to leveraging our knowledge and expertise to optimise the productivity of the Polvo A platform.”

In December 2015, PetroRio obtained approval from the Brazilian National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (Agência Nacional do Petróleo, Gás Natural e Biocombustíveis – ANP) on the assignment of rights concerning the acquisition of 40% stake from Maersk Energia in the Polvo Field.

The company now owns a 100% stake in the field.

Following the receipt of approval, the company said it will invest in the field redevelopment and in enhanced oil recovery.
